Border TV gets the Cumbria constituencies wrong

I have been told by two different people that Border TV made an unforgivable error this evening.

Apparently their item on the Workington constituency described that seat as including Keswick.

For this election, of course, Keswick, along with the Crummock, Dalton, and Derwent Valley wards, move from Workington constituency into Copeland constituency.

We have quite enough confusion about this already without the TV giving out wrong information.

If anyone reading this lives in Keswick, and is confused about which constituency you are in, I do not blame you, but please note:

* If you have had election literature from one or more of the Workington candidates, (as I know some people have,) please ignore it, they have got it wrong, Keswick is now part of the Copeland constituency.

* If you heard on the Television that Keswick is still part of Workington constituency, please ignore it, they have got it wrong, Keswick is now part of the Copeland constituency

* Keswick residents (and those of Crummock, Dalton and Derwent) will still pay your council tax to Allerdale, still have your bins emptied by Allerdale, and will have an election for Allerdale councillors next year, but for the purposes of electing an MP you are now with Copeland.

This TV company needs to do its research more thorougly.

Border TV should apologise and broadcast a correction.

If Keswick etc get to vote for a Copeland MP they should also suffer Copeland BC.

Sorry - that would be struck down by the ECHR as cruel and unusual punishment !

I agree, Chris, torture is not allowed. Being forced onto Copeland BC is a cruel and unusual punishment that would be about as pleasurable for Keswick peoples as being water-boarded!

What are you saying about Copeland BC?

CBC had the third worst score in the country in the official Place Survey study of how satisfied residents were with their local council.

So we are saying nothing that many residents of Copeland are not also saying.

Chris you are a member of that Council and have done nothing to hold the useless, incompetent, possibly corrupt, Officers to account. In fact you believe everything they tell you without doing a 'fact check'.

It's true that I am a Copeland Councillor but would not accept the rest of that comment.

I have certainly asked questions in Council and privately about some of the issues discussed on this blog and elsewhere, and that includes asking to see documents and checking certain facts with other people.

For instance I insisted on seeing for myself the independent valuation of the Golf Course, and I discussed certain financial issues with the Auditor. I am currently awaiting the results of an inquiry to the county council about exactly what they said about the safety implications of the dry stone wall at the Golf Course, and why.

Were Cumbria Police and Cumbria CC consulted about the removal of the dry-stone wall on safety grounds?
Who at Cumbria Police and Cumbria CC recommended the removal of the dry-stone wall on safety grounds?
Where is the evidence that such a consultation took place?

It looks to me like Copeland BC lying to everyone and looking after the interests of Whitehaven Golf Club again.
