Swimathon 2010

After spending the morning with my campaign team in the centre of Whitehaven, I have just completed the Swimathon at Copeland Pool in Hensingham this lunchtime to raise money for Marie Curie cancer care.

I swam 5,000 metres (200 lengths of the pool) in one hour and 55 minutes.

Anyone who would like to sponsor me and support Marie Curie cancer care, whether you share my politics or not, can still do so here.

Trespass is not a criminal act

No one said it was, the criminal act is the damage. It's all rather petty, not at all the behavior of civilised adults.

There has been too much unethical behaviour from some people who oppose the Tories. This indicates desperation in certain quarters.

Copeland Conservatives can pride themselves and take comfort in the fact that we have fought a clean positive campaign that has concentrated on policy issues. Critique has been based on political debate free from personal attacks, wiful misunderstanding of opposition policies and smearing. Chris Whiteside has kept to his pledge and fought a clean ethical and legal campaign.

This is the integrity required in a future MP.

Congratulations Chris on completing the Swimathon for such a worthy cause. It was excellent to see that you still had enough energy to rejoin the campaign team out leafleting in Mirehouse yesterday afternoon.
