Quotes of the day 27th May 2014

"We will have a catastrophe at the next election if we go on like this. Our voters are trying to give us one last chance and tell us they want change. He [Ed Miliband] has got to free himself from this or he will drag us down with him."

(Labour MP and former minister Frank Field quoted in the The Daily Telegraph).

"It's not just that they think he is weird. They think he's a joke and that's even more dangerous."

(Quote about Ed Miliband attributed by the press to a shadow cabinet member speaking 'Off the record')

A couple of years ago there was a labour minister who ended up a real liability, the one, you know "he whom shall no longer be named in a Jim comment" - him. well he said "I have ended boom and bust" it was a lie, or perhaps a belief, which he repeated so often he ended up actually believing it himself.

Dont follow this line would be my tip of the day to the conservative party.

"They said we could not cut the EU budget but we did" - see my comment on the Mr Hollande statement to see why that is being economical with the acualite

"they said we could not veto a treaty but we did" - no you did not. to veto a treaty there must be a draft treaty, no such veto exists. what DC did do was attend an EU council meeting (which the BBC can't seem to grasp is not even a "summit") and opposed the discussion to create a new treaty, which came as no suprise to the only real two (Merkel and Von Rumpy Pumpy) as he had already said he would do that to Merkel on a visit to germany 6 months earlier, and there were also 6 other "state leaders" giving the same indication, in effect he opened the door to a QMV vote ensuring no eurozone member can run to deficit again. which is what merkel and rumpy really wanted.

DC HAS NOT AND DID NOT VETO A TREATY! - there was no draft treaty to veto. Now we are clear on that bit, please tell the tory top brass to stop going on TV shows like the Andrew Marr show and say "they said we would not veto a treaty but we did"

Honestly, it may make your party that little more credible.
