I arrived early in Keswick where I met officials from the Environment Agency. Although the river levels had fallen considerably and homes were no longer flooded, the damage to homes had been done. And the water which had got into houses wasn’t just from the river – it was foul water which had risen from the drains. I talked to fire crews who were pumping flood water back into the river, and discovered that they were from Tyne & Wear and Lancashire. You see how strong The case against is, It's no problem fighting the "In" crowd that does not bother me, its actually the UKIP taking control of the "out" side that does.
I honestly dont think the IN side could win it, but as i have said previously, UKIP could lose it.
His attempts to defend that behaviour and present himself as a victim of the BNP are a classic example of how certain people convince themselves first that their cause is absolutely in the right, then that anything they do in pursuit of that cause is defensible, and finally, if they get caught and punished for wrongdoing, that they are the victim.
MacShane has been consistently wrong in his enthusiasm for everything the EU does, wrong in just about everything he has ever said about the Conservatives, wrong in his attempt to defend his expenses fraud, and he is just as wrong in his comments about the MPs' expenses system.
MacShane is the mirror image, Jim, of your comments about UKIP - the fact that this man is an arch advocate of the EU is the worst possible advertisement for the arguments for continued British membership.
