Quotes of the day 17th December 2014

"Beware of false knowledge, it is more dangerous than ignorance"

(George Bernard Shaw)

"It ain't what you don't know that gets you into trouble. It's what you know for sure that just ain't so."

(The same statement in rather earthier language which I have seen variously attributed to three 19th-century American humourists: Mark Twain,  Will Rogers and Josh Billings, among others.)

I wont say i know it for sure, but i think its looking likely, so i guess its quite foreseeable.

But I can see in the very near future a "civil war" breaking out in UKIP. Carswell one side, Farage on the other. I think that is the crux of the whole kerry thing, and its going to blow up pretty quickly.

I think i will ask Santa for some popcorn.

Though i will tell you something that is worse than false knowledge and ignorance.

that is trying present as truth something that is not true. Now whilst i am not calling the PM and the Chancellor a pair of "porkie" tellers, to change the way in which the deficit is measured, just before a GE, is being so "economical with the actutalite" that its not very honest.

(yes the Cut the deficit by half" line is irritating me more than a lot
